So my husbands big issue with this whole Paleoish mvmt that we have undertaken???
PASTA....
I was not sure what to do about this. Making pasta out of coconut flour is just not gonna happen- there is just only so much you can do with that....
I have taken a modified stance at this point I guess...I have been stressing the GLUTEN FREE more so than the entire wheat free, grain free movement in my house, for now anyways...
So given that, I have set out to learn to make many things the GLUTEN FREE way. I am LOVING Shauna's (of Gluten Free Girl and the Chef) new cookbook- check it out ya'll- really it so awesome!!!
So back to the PASTA!!!!
I already had a pasta maker attachment for my KitchenAid....so just needed a recipe--enter GlutenFreeGirl and the Chef's Recipe-it in the cookbook- so go buy it!-- I made it exactly as they said, and walaa, real pasta!!!!!
VERDICT:
It felt like pasta in my hand, and it held together!!!!
My kids liked it, my hubbie liked it. I served it with spagetti sauce.
I did not care for the taste, I don't know, something was just not right...I will keep working on it...Maybe I salted the water too much? Do you not do that with gluten free pasta?? It was really slimey to touch...
Maybe I will switch out the flours, I am learning that as long as you use the weight not the measurement then you are able to switch things around pretty easily till you find what you really like... I will update with my own recipe if I find one I LOVE.
